🌶️ Heat Ranking

Señor Pants’ pick is PuckerButt’s Reaper Squeezin’s, the cheapest bottle here and the only one made from nothing but whole Carolina Reaper and vinegar. Hellfire Doomed carries the biggest number among the five picks, a lab-tested 2.76 million Scoville for the finished sauce. Every bottle rated hotter than Doomed in the chart below is an extract product sold to be used by the drop.

Señor Pants’ pick

Buy Reaper Squeezin’s. It takes the top Señor Pants Score, 4.3 out of 5, with full marks for Flavor Beyond Heat and Value. Señor Pants has one rule for every bottle on this page, borrowed from the makers’ own warnings: your first serving is one drop.

Hot sauces ranked by Scoville rating

Tabasco Original tops out at 5,000 SHU. Da Bomb Beyond Insanity is about 27 times that, and Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 is about 1,800 times it. Unless a row says otherwise, the figure is a rating for the finished sauce. The shaded rows are extract products. Blair’s Crystal Death sits in the last row because of the figure Blair’s gives for its capsaicin crystals; Blair’s listing gives no rating for the sauce itself.

Reaper Squeezin’s and the Last Dab Xperience are left off this chart because neither maker publishes a figure for the finished sauce. Their quick-picks ratings are pepper averages from Guinness World Records: about 1.64 million SHU for the Carolina Reaper and about 2.69 million for Pepper X. A sauce made from a pepper rates below the pepper itself.

Best for cooking with: Da Bomb Beyond Insanity (135,600 SHU)

Da Bomb Beyond Insanity hot sauce bottle

🌶️ Señor Pants Score: 3.8/5 (Heat Intensity 3 · Flavor Beyond Heat 3 · Usability 4 · Value 5)

Beyond Insanity is the one pick you measure by the dash, which makes it the easy choice for heating up a pot of chili or a batch of wing sauce. At 135,600 SHU it is the mildest of the five by a wide margin, a 3 on the Heat scale below. Spicin Foods publishes no ingredient list, so Flavor Beyond Heat gets the midpoint. A 4 oz bottle used a few dashes at a time, at a price within a dollar of Reaper Squeezin’s, earns the full 5 for Value.

Best drop-by-drop heat: Blair’s 2am Reserve (~650,000-900,000 SHU)

Blair's 2am Reserve hot sauce bottle

🌶️ Señor Pants Score: 2.8/5 (Heat Intensity 4 · Flavor Beyond Heat 2 · Usability 2 · Value 3)

Blair’s rates 2am Reserve at roughly 650,000 to 900,000 SHU depending on the batch, which puts it between Mad Dog 357 Original and Da Bomb The Final Answer on the chart. Blair’s builds the recipe around a concentrated chili extract, and every serving is measured in drops. It has the highest price of the five, offset somewhat by how slowly a drop-dosed bottle empties.

Go a drop at a time with 2am Reserve ($44.99)

Best pure heat for the money: PuckerButt Reaper Squeezin’s (~1.64 million SHU pepper)

PuckerButt Reaper Squeezin's hot sauce bottle

🌶️ Señor Pants Score: 4.3/5 (Heat Intensity 4 · Flavor Beyond Heat 5 · Usability 3 · Value 5)

PuckerButt lists only Carolina Reaper peppers and vinegar, with peppers making up 92 percent of the bottle, so it takes the top Flavor Beyond Heat mark on this page. Ed Currie of PuckerButt bred the Reaper. Guinness World Records recognized it as the hottest pepper in 2013 at an average of about 1.64 million SHU, and it held the title until Currie’s Pepper X took it in 2023. PuckerButt calls this the hottest sauce it makes from all-natural ingredients, so plan on small pours.

Best for trying the record pepper: Hot Ones Last Dab Xperience (~2.69 million SHU pepper)

Hot Ones Last Dab Xperience hot sauce bottle

🌶️ Señor Pants Score: 3.5/5 (Heat Intensity 5 · Flavor Beyond Heat 3 · Usability 3 · Value 3)

This is the bottle for anyone who wants Pepper X, which Guinness World Records named the hottest pepper in 2023 at an average of about 2.69 million SHU. The ingredient list Heatonist publishes names Pepper X three times, as pepper, powder and distillate, with distilled vinegar as the only other ingredient. A distillate is a concentrate, and that keeps Flavor Beyond Heat at a 3.

Try Pepper X in the Last Dab Xperience ($27.95)

Biggest sauce number here: Hellfire Doomed (2.76 million SHU)

Hellfire Doomed hot sauce bottle

🌶️ Señor Pants Score: 3.3/5 (Heat Intensity 5 · Flavor Beyond Heat 3 · Usability 2 · Value 3)

Hellfire gives 2.76 million SHU for the finished sauce from a lab test, the biggest sauce figure among the five picks. The base is Trinidad scorpion and red habanero peppers. Hellfire adds spices and a 6.66 million SHU pepper extract to that base, and the whole-pepper start keeps Flavor Beyond Heat above Blair’s 2am. Hellfire’s product copy says to use it with caution and in small quantities, and Usability scores a 2 to match. Hellfire’s Amazon listing title says 2.79 million; the chart uses the figure on Hellfire’s own site.

Take the Doomed dare ($26.80)
Before you open the top of this chart: The Source, Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 and Blair’s Crystal Death are concentrated extracts, and Mad Dog sells Plutonium as a food additive. Wear gloves when you handle them. Keep them away from eyes and skin, and out of reach of kids and pets. Never taste one straight from the bottle. Hellfire Doomed and Blair’s 2am Reserve contain extract too, so treat a first taste as a single drop.

How Señor Pants Ranked These

Scoville figures come from each maker’s own website or product listing, read in October 2026. Frank’s RedHot, Valentina and Dave’s Insanity carry PepperScale’s estimates instead, labeled in the chart. Pepper averages for the Carolina Reaper and Pepper X are the figures Guinness World Records recognized. Señor Pants ran no lab tests and records no tasting. Prices were read on Amazon on October 24, 2026, and smaller-batch bottles change price often.

Each pick also carries a Señor Pants Score out of 5, the site’s editorial rating, averaged from four criteria scored 1 to 5. Heat Intensity follows the published figure: 3 for 100,000 to 600,000 SHU, 4 for 600,000 to 2 million, 5 above 2 million. Where only a pepper average exists, that average sets the score, and the finished sauce rates lower. Flavor Beyond Heat measures the published recipe, not taste: whole peppers and ordinary ingredients score high, and added extract or concentrate scores lower. Usability runs from dashing it like a table sauce (high) to dosing it by the drop (low). Value weighs what a bottle costs against how much of it you can realistically use.

FAQ

What is the hottest hot sauce in the world?

By published numbers, the biggest figures belong to extract products: Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 at 9 million SHU and The Source at 7.1 million. Blair’s Crystal Death lists 16 million, but Blair’s gives that figure for the capsaicin crystals inside the bottle. Among finished sauces not sold as extracts, Hellfire Doomed carries the highest figure in this guide at 2.76 million SHU.

How hot is Tabasco or Cholula on the Scoville scale?

Tabasco rates its Original Red sauce at 2,500 to 5,000 SHU, and McCormick rates Cholula Original at 1,000 to 2,000 SHU. Frank’s RedHot, at an estimated 450 SHU, is milder than either.

Why are some “million Scoville” numbers bigger than the sauce itself?

Many makers quote the rating of the pepper, extract or crystals that go into the bottle, and the finished sauce is diluted below that figure. Hellfire Doomed shows the gap: its extract and its finished sauce are rated about 3.9 million SHU apart.
